David Gray Family Blog

Last blog here for a while.

Hello friends and family,

This will be my last post here for a while. I reported before that I'm now using Facebook to communicate with all my family and friends. Facebook is very popular and I think easy to use. So if you haven' t jump on board yet, there is no better time than right now. You'll find my Facebook page at facebook.com/dwgray

Also,
Amy and I are on yearlong cross country RV trip. We have started a Travelogue so you can follow up along. The address is GrayStarCity.info.

I
hope to hear from you soon.

I am turning off comments to this blog now. For the most part all I'm getting here is a ton of SPAM.

Busy, busy, busy

Hello!

Well if there were 36 hours in a day, I'd use them. Just doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day to do all that needs to be done. So much has happened since I last posted.

I got a girlfriend; I got engaged on Christmas day and I’ll be getting married soon, maybe next month. Chris moved back home to manage my home as I will be renting out 3 bedrooms while I go on a year long trip. Yes, that’s right. For my Christmas gift, I purchased a 41 foot toy hauler RV. I also traded in my two trucks to get a big Dodge Ram 3500 dually diesel truck.

Well thanks to my pastor, I am now on Facebook. That has become my main avenue of communicating with my growing number of friends. An invitation below will help you get started. I like Facebook much better than some of the other online communication tools. So join today and become one of my friends. I have some pictures there too.

I need a government job!

Well last week was really busy for me. I volunteered my finances, time and talent to create a new website for the Vandenberg AFB Rod and Gun Club. (http://vafbGunClub.com) I continue to make improvements and additions as members send in their ideas. And I continue to work about 30 hours a week at VAFB Fish and Game Office.

I actually took a weekend off this past weekend. I hadn’t done that in over a month. Last Saturday I spent the day in Santa Barbara watching the professional volleyball players. I got to see our fantastic Olympic gold medalists in action and many other famous players.

The weather continues to prevent me from going out to take wildlife pictures. Hopefully that will change soon.

As I continue to learn more about Governor Sarah Palin I cannot be more pleased that she was selected as McCain’s running mate. I can’t believe all the crap that some are saying about her. Some say she lacks experience. Well that’s pure B.S. Honestly, look at the so call experienced men that have been president since my favorite president, Ronald Reagan. If anyone thinks Sarah could do worse than them, well I suggest you run for office yourself. Sarah has the kind of experience that no man has ever brought to Washington D.C. I am not afraid one iota if she became president in a heartbeat.

Here is a link to a video of Sarah some months back before she had any idea about the VP job.

So Excited !!!!!

Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain introduced his running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin today. I was telling some hunters yesterday that I had a sudden premonition that McCain would choose a woman for vice president. He couldn’t have chosen a better running mate for America.

Vote McCain/Palin!

Have A Great Weekend

This last weekend, Terri's parents came to visit. It was great to see them again. Mom took time to relieve me from cooking and cooked up a couple of delicious meals. I continued to enjoy the leftovers throughout the week. Chris and Annique came up too. I was glad to see them again. Chris started a new job working for Verizon Wireless on Monday.

On August 9th, I started my volunteer job for the 3rd year at the Vandenberg AFB Fish and Game Office. I work there form 2:30 P.M. till about 10:00 P.M. We are having the lowest turnout of hunters ever this year. With the gas prices so high and so many military deployments, it has affected the number of hunters significantly.

I’ve been taking more wildlife pictures and uploaded some new ones on my other website, VandenbergWildlife.com. I hope you enjoy them. I’m hoping the weather will clear up soon so I can go out and take some more.

I hope you all have a great weekend.

This is so cool.

I leaned about a new website in Tehachapi, California built by a friend there. It is a site for the Tehachapi artists, musicians, performing artists, photographers, & writers. Although I don't live there, I was invited to contribute anyway. The site went live just a few days ago and grew so fast, my friend had to quickly rebuild it. She had no idea it would happen like that.

Tonight I was checking on the development progress and learned that my first contibution is listed in the Featured Writer/Poet  section. What an honor.

The site is:

BTW: I'm Job.

I’m Back - Great Vacation

I made it back home yesterday afternoon from my NC trip. I was just too tired to post anything yesterday. I was up at 3:50 A.M. eastern time while some of you were just going to bed. I had no flight delays and arrived at LAX early!

I enjoyed spending time with my family. I drove out to Raleigh to meet with Terri's youngest brother, Kevin, who is an officer in the Marines. I also flew up to Maryland to visit one of her other brothers, Brian, and his family who is an officer in the Navy. He also has a restaurant in Pocomoke City, MD. Now if you want some great seafood and steaks you must stop by The Upper Deck on 1245 Ocean Highway. He has a really nice place there.

I helped my Dad in the garden and ate some fresh tomatoes, sweet white corn, okra, blackberries, green beans and yellow crook neck squash. I gained 10 pounds while there. Now it’s time to lose it. I think I shot over 400 rounds of ammunition though some of Dad’s rifles. Mom baked several blackberry cobblers. I gained 5 pounds from that alone.

I went fishing twice with my uncle and dad. I went down to Baden Lake to see my brother’s property. He has offered me a good deal on that and I’m thinking about buying it. I’m seriously considering living in NC for 6 months during the fall/winter season and here in CA the other 6 months. Eventually I’ll move to NC permanently.

Now that I’m back, I have a ton of things to do. Between now and October, I’ve so much to accomplish before I go back to NC.

Here are few of my pictures for you to enjoy.

Man's Best Friend Return's Home!

I brought my best friend back home tonight. My Boston Terrier, Oreo, has been living with an elderly woman for the past year. She had to be moved to an assisted living center this weekend. I met up with her son at the intersection of 99 and 166. I don't know who was happier. He feels right at home but is camera shy. He hasn’t changed a bit. I don’t think Oreo realizes its been a year. I got Oreo when he was just 5 weeks old after his mother passed away. I would take him with me in the mall and into Church on Sunday's to bottle feed him.

Food for thought

Last night while reading my Bible I read the following scripture in Ecclesiastes 7:26 (NIV) "I find more bitter than death the woman who is a snare, whose heart is a trap and whose hands are chains. The man who pleases God will excape her, but the sinner she will ensnare."

Thank you God for making a way of excape!

Busy Week

For the next 4 days I will be busy at our local annual Flower Festival. Sunday I will go pick up my Boston Terrier, Oreo. I haven’t had him for about a year. Oreo has been with an elderly lady who is moving into an assisted living center. In a couple of weeks I plan to take needed vacation to NC.

Hot, hot, hot!

The last two days have been so hot here. I'm not used to this. Well I guess it's a good thing because I plan to take another trip to North Carolina soon. I need to find out if my health will tolerate the heat and humidity there. I still have a strong desire to move back to the place I grew up. I feel I've reached a point in my life it's time for change. I've lived in California for over 20 years now. Quite frankly, I've had enough of this state. I don't like what is happening here. I don’t like the pains and disappointments that have developed here. I don't want to be here when God's wrath comes down on this state. Maybe there is nowhere to run too. Are we near the end times? Take me home Lord.

I recently came across these scriptures and I think they say a lot.

"Don't be naive. There are difficult times ahead. As the end approaches, people are going to be self-absorbed, money-hungry, self-promoting, stuck-up, profane, contemptuous of parents, crude, coarse, dog-eat-dog, unbending, slanderers, impulsively wild, savage, cynical, treacherous, ruthless, bloated windbags, addicted to lust, and allergic to God. They'll make a show of religion, but behind the scenes they're animals. Stay clear of these people." (The Message, 2 Timothy 3:1-5)
